Designing Toronto

We can’t help it. We’re suckers for design. Lately, we’ve been really into the ways that designers have been representing cities in various capacities. You’ll remember that we posted about when Mississauga rebranded and in sticking with the fact that we’re a Toronto design agency, we thought today would be a good day to focus on all of the ways that we’ve seen designers represent Toronto.

Designing with a city (or country) in mind is a little tricky because it involves balancing how the world sees the city with how the city’s residents see the city. You need to gather the landmarks together with the mood of the city and the styles of the people who live there. For anyone reading this and living in Toronto, you’ll probably be having a chuckle because in Toronto, we happily boast about our city’s multiculturalism. This means that designing an image to represent Toronto is like designing an image to represent the world.

The World Cup frenzy in and around Toronto was enough to prove my point this past summer.

Without further ado, here are a few of the ways that artists and designers have represented our city. Because we can’t imagine letting everyone else have all of the fun, we’ve included a little something we made too!
