Volume is the size of the conversation going on about your brand. It is a great way to gauge if users are interested in your brand or not. Conversations on the internet are generally based on loving or hating the product/ service. Being mediocre will not garner a response and your brand will be brushed to the wayside. There is more to volume than just counting your tweets, pins, and wall posts. It’s important to measure the number of messages and mentions of your brand as well.
For example, Facebook Insights has a great tool called ‘People Talking About Us’ that measures how many people posted something to their walls about your brand.
As you learn about the timing & concentration of your customers conversations you can better schedule your posts to reach the maximum amount of engagement.
