We could give you a tidy list of popular 2012 web design trends, but why not put the information in a cool infographic? At Trifunk, we are excited about the web design trends that popped up in 2012, but we are even more excited that it looks like they are here to stay for 2013. Our infographic lets you answer a few questions about your business to see if any of these trends would work well for you. Feel free to give us a shout if you want to give one of them a go!
Single Page – Single Idea:
The one-page website has been popular for a while, but this year, the concept is taken one step further and super simple single idea websites have emerged. Our favourite? Is it a Jewish holiday today?
When you’re visiting a site that requires you to continually move through pages, navigation that follows you can be handy. E-commerce sites are really making use of this trend, like Anthropologie.
As more and more people are switching to tablets and smartphones, some websites are encouraging their visitors to use the swiping function, browsing through their site this way.
This is just cool. The idea is to have two or more parallel objects scrolling at different speeds. The result is non-animated animation. Basically, through having different scroll speeds, objects look like they are interacting and are extremely effective in narrative storytelling. In fact, one of our examples is even a wedding invitation!
We’re sure that there were designers creating pinboard-style website layouts before, but the popularity of Pinterest has skyrocketed the format. Using images in organized blocks has become a trend for displaying products, recipes, and portfolios.
These days, websites need to be fully functional on multiple devices (computers, smartphones, and tablets). Responsive design means that a website has been designed in such a way that it works on a variety of devices, instead of having to design multiple different forms of a website to solve the same problem.
